October 4th 1957 was the date, OK so it's still three and a half years till the 60th, were there any special coins or commemoratives in 2007, I would assume there were.

I have a 1980 Olympic 1 Rouble coin with Sputnik on it.

I was actually hoping for something like a 1 ounce silver model of the Sputnik craft itself, that would be an interesting pocket piece, especially with the antenna spikes

Cool thanks for the links, a bit pricey for me, maybe I'll try to get a local jeweller to make me a model of it, just for the heck of it.

The orbital coins are cool, makes me wonder how many times you can spin it before it pops out
