picked up a couple neat ancient indians...

this may be my oldest coin...not sure.

here are the puchmarks, 5 obverse, 1 reverse...


on my coins, symbol 5 ("barf cow") is lower left, 2 ("funky sun") upper left, 3 ("taxila hills") upper right, 1 ("sun") center left, 4 ("daphnia") lower right.

They are both really nice coins, I don't have anything like that yet. The links are very handy too.

The only specialist reference book I have on the subject of ancient Indian numismatics is
"A STUDY OF ANCIENT INDIAN NUMISMATICS From the Earliest Times to the Rise of the Imperial Guptas (With special Reference to Northern India", (243 pages),
by
Surendra Kisor Chakrabortty, M.A.,
publ. Bharitya Publishing House, Sonapura Varanasi (India), 1973.

The main problem this book is that it has NO picture references! Otherwise, a good schorlarly effort.
