I recently found a 1985 P5 (about a month ago) its my 3rd Pointed 5, it would have been melted for scrap. Now Me or someone else can enjoy this coin, this is what I live for.

"I have 2,500,000 Pre 97 stashed away. :)"
How long did it take to accumulate that many pennies and how much room do they take up?

2500000. As pennies get phased out, you will be the proud own of a great fraction of the pennies still out there!

Holy cow, Peterson -- that's about 1,000 boxes! Where do you store them all?

Wow, 2.5 million. Impressive. You could build an interior wall in your house with the boxes. I'm stashing only 1/10th of that.....251,000

I myself have over 10000. I just got pennies to search and decided not to dump them because they were discontinued and the list of banks willing to sell me pennies were shrinking (by the end of the school year there were none nearby that would sell me any). My mom and the person who I left my stuff with got kinda mad at me because it was heavy to move when I had to move out of my dorm. I can't imagine having more, I have no space to put them!
No way all the pennies will be accounted for. What about the ones lost or destroyed? Stashed away by copper hoarders? Undiscovered road coins? I used to find crusty old pennies on the road or the grass area beside the sidewalk when I walked outside.

I saw a clip on the news around the time that they were going to discontinue the penny. There was a guy who had a whole warehouse full of tote bags of pennies. Now I can't remember if these were American pre 1982 or Canadian pre 1997 but there were hundreds of totes. I would estimate each tote would have well over 1 million pennies.......I guess he's got a few

That looks familiar. I remember there being way more but nevertheless.........lots of pennies. Those are American pennies. I'm sure somewhere in Canada there was a similar outfit hoarding Canadian cents in hopes of being able to melt them down.
