I have this Hannoverian Thaler in proof like condition. However, it has suffered some PVC damage.

Does anyone know how, if possible to remove this with a home remedy while preserving its surface condition.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks!

A soak in 100 percent acetone is your best bet.

Thanks guys!

I was just worried that the acetone would affect the lustre.

Beautiful coin and, yes, acetone should fix up that PVC problem.

Acetone will not affect metal, so it does nothing to the luster or tone. It only affects organic contaminants.

There may indeed be some luster impairment but that would be from damage directly related to the PVC residue, not acetone.

Please do a Search of this forum for some of the many times we've discussed the use of acetone. You'll find valuable help with procedure in them.
