My credit union that I am a member at doesn't allow box orders so I want to get an account at a bank that allows this. I am just wondering what banks you order your boxes from? thanks

Most should. My credit union just ordered me a box. Just look around, I'm sure most of them will.

Im actually in the process of looking for a freebank, and all I've come up with so far is citibank that has a free checking for students that I can technically still fall into. I just need this as a pick up bank, and then i'll dump at my CU.

Sidente though- Bank of America never asks me if I'm a member, and they just exchange my cash for coins, so they are worth a try. You just have to act casual, I always start off asking a random question first, then ask about coins :)

It's more a branch thing than a corporate thing. Even when a branch tells you it's corporate policy to not do it, in reality it's up to each branch.

Every corporate bank and most credit unions are able to order boxes, but the manager of the branch is free to set policy regarding fees and/or eligibility rules. My old BoA would happily order as many boxes as I could pay for, while another branch just down the road would refuse to even go into the vault for non-corporate customers.

I've had pretty good luck at my closest BOA. I don't even have an account and they'll happily let me get boxes of whatever, just as long as they have enough for them and other customers.

These are all great responses, it all comes down to doing the leg (or phone) work, obviously.

I'm not a big time box searcher but I'd recommend calling... I know at my local boa the tellers answer the phone (assuming you can find the non-800 # to the branch) and at one of them only the head teller will retrieve coinage from vault so it's good to know what day that person has off, in a non- stalker way
