This appears to be a legit example of an AV Solidus of Constantine VII & Romanus I 913-959 AD. Sear # 1751.

Tell us the weight in grams. Fakes are often the wrong weight.

From the pictures only, it looks OK to me!

Even if it is struck in modern good gold (say, 22 ct), there is still a easy way to detect if it as a fake or not, by alloy analysis.

Using XRF (X Ray Florescence), test for trace alloy elements, other than gold, and compare against a known genuine coin of the same period and mint.

XRF analysis is non destructive and is relatively cheap to perform. Most bullion dealers worth their salt should have an instrument such as this, for their own protection.
