I've gone through a lot of Brinks bags of Halves and they don't have silver in them. At least not any more. I went by a bank that I used to get Halves from that uses Brinks bags and the teller told me without a doubt they search the bags before they seal them so you won't find anything of value. Just an FYI. Edited by Mr Click 07/28/2014 9:14 pm

They're feeding you a lie. What is more probable is that the tellers at the banks that are sending the halves into Brinks in the first place are pulling the silver themselves before they're even sent off. So Brinks never sees them. I work for a bank that uses Brinks, and silver dimes and quarters do show up about as regularly as you would expect (we don't stock halves, and only order them when a customer requests them which is rare, so I can't speak from that).

You may be right. Policies and Procedures do change from time to time. I took what she said at face value. I also have experience a lot of silverless bags from Brinks. Just passing on information I learned today.

Tellers where I used to work would check anything they got if they had the time. None were coin nuts like me though. One found some strange "tokens" one time. I told her they were steel cents and she couldn't care less. I happily gave her 15 cents for all 15 of them :D

I'm curious as to how a teller would *know* details of the inner workings of Brinks. (This assumes that he/she never worked for them).
And this brings up a question.....if Brinks is filtering out the silver, then how come they're not filtering out the Panamanian half balboas or the guitar picks?

Urban legend spread by tellers to scare off roll hunters who make them carry and count dumps and carry heavy boxes of coin out of the vault.
I had had the head teller at 2 different banks tall me that so and so culls all of the silver and you are on a 25 box skunk streak you start to believe it and then when things get back on track you come back to your senses.
I've only gotten Brinks boxes once and of the 4 boxes if I recall correctly I found ~ 20 40%ers and a Franklin.

I didn't know Brinks did boxes, for halves anyways. I've only had bags from Brinks and the bags are all pretty much stinkers. In my experience anyway. But you may be right.

Up here in Canada I used to get Brinks boxes of dimes and they were all 2000 and newer. I stick to customer wrapped rolls for dimes now unless the bank happens to have a box of customer wrapped which is rare. I mostly do nickels now, and a small lots of dimes.

in my neck of the states we see brinks boxes and sometimes they will produce silver, in my experience as a professional coin roll hunter I dont think brinks pulls silver but everyone else who touches these are trying..i would think in todays times all brinks/ any armor car company are under camera surveillance all the time and would loose there job and possibly there freedom is they exchange out silver coins, there job might prosecute them, and so should the bankers just my opinion...at my job if I exchange something out or mess with any items with intention to benefit me its curtains...

In this neck of the woods, Brinks does not pull any coins. The money belongs to the bank not Brinks. That is why you can't go to a Brinks location and buy a bag. They have no money there they can sell to you. They know to the penny how much belongs to what bank. It does get mixed together then rolled. As they take the boxes to the banks it is reduced from the bank's account. When they bring the money in from the banks and count it, it is then added to their account.

It's possible you are getting bags directly off the banks coin counter, as received by Brinks and sent directly back to your pickup bank, without being weighed or counted. If so, many of these counters reject silver, so, no silver in your bags.
