I am starting a raw quarter eagle indian set in my dansco album, similar to my half eagle set...but only have 2 so far. Not near the quality that Jon Brand's will be, but its fun to have a nice bullion set to show off in an album. I really like the obverse on this one, lots of cartwheel luster...however, the reverse is completely lackluster with some minor damage.

Almost complete...but missing the 1909-O and 1929...both 5 figure coins unfortunately. I really want a 1909-O, but would have to make some major sacrifices to get it. The 1929 is probably never going to happen. The quarter eagle indian set is a lot easier to complete, which is probably why it is more popular.

btw, I dont see much in the way of wear on this coin. The obverse is comparable to my MS-63 1929 with full cartwheel luster.

I don't like it. If you haven't purchased it yet, don't. This is a common date, the coin you posted either has ex-jewelry damage and/or is a fake. Bad series to purchase raw.

yes, I know it has damage and mentioned that in the initial post. Please explain why it is fake. You made that statement on another coin I bought, but never provided explanations.

Oh. A lot of this series were faked. So to be comfortable unless one is an expert, it is best not to buy them raw. Best of luck.

Johnny has a ton of these things, I wouldn't worry. :) But you are right about being cautious. I have less experience then him so I am taking the TPG path.

Maybe you should look into buying correct gold content replica 1909-O and 1929 half eagles. Not the same as the originals, but they are hole fillers and add bullion to boot.
