This'll be my last "me" pic for a while; I've got, um, half a collection of other people's coins in-house. Having been taking pics continuously for the last three hours, it's actually enjoyable to quit clicking for a few minutes.

Here's my newest member of the 7070 Club. It was represented slightly lighter in the auction, although from a very reputable seller. I'm glad it's a little darker, as it leaves me more comfortable with the originality of the surfaces. What's your opinion of grade?

I will identify the seller as soon as I receive his permission to do so. He's got some nice stuff.

There appears to be a bit of rub on the highest points of both obverse and reverse because of lighter toning. It's hard to tell if that is actual rub or something else going on. The obverse rim looks good in the photo, though there is something going on in a couple of places on the reverse...almost looks as though the coin was mounted in jewelry?

It looks to me like AU50-55 if that is actual wear in the lighter colored high spots.

Beautiful coin. I would be proud to have one like it in my collection.

Awesome coin... certainly looks original to me. This looks like a nice XF example to me. I am split between XF-40 and 45. What the heck, let's go XF-45, beautiful lightly circulated example!

Oh Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy! Hey, I'm a seated nut! I also like the patina on this one. It's a toss for me between VF30 and EF40. Without the rim nicks I'd say EF40. Nice coin Dave!

I have to agree with the majority, XF-45.

I purchased this one from Randall P. Holder Rare Coins, ebay user rpholdercoins. His website is here:

Although the coins described on his website do not have pics, you'll note from his auctions that he's a pretty accomplished coin photographer, so I would imagine he could provide images for any of his coins. Check the ebay Store out. He has some *really* nice stuff.

So, Super Dave ... what grade did Randall assign? Enquiring minds want to know.

Well, obviously I'm the optimist in the crowd as far as grade goes. I'll yield to the more experienced collectors of this series. Even if the coin is quite as high a grade as I thought, it's sill a dandy.

He called it AU. I called it XF45, even though I've seen evidence in ANACS slabs (perhaps they're weak on Seated coinage) that AU50 wouldn't be out of the pale as a market grade for my coin. Either way, the price was upper-XF, and as it precisely fits my definition of what this issue should look like, I felt it appropriate. In-hand, it's nicer than my 1839, which all agreed was a nice XF.
