I got this nickel from CRH, and I was wondering if this is one of the black beauty errors. It's probably toned but doesn't hurt to ask.

Environmental Damage. Much like unplated Zincoln errors, it is almost impossible to definitively attribute a "Black Beauty" Jefferson unless it is uncirculated with full luster. Many different types of environmental damage or chemical treatments can darken a coin but they will also impair the luster of a coin as well.
