Stopped by the bank yesterday to pick up some more rolls to search. The teller said they only had two rolls and there weren't any silver ones (I hear this a lot at banks, actually). I told her I'd take them anyway. Lo and behold, the first roll I opened had a 1968 in it! Now I only need the '65, '69, and '70 to complete the silver Kennedys!

You could very well have been dealing with a teller who isn't aware of the 40% silver halves. Or who just doesn't care. Or who was just telling you that because she figures you are just looking for silver (like most people who, in my own teller experience, ask for halves at the bank).

Yeah, I'm sure they get tired of everyone coming in and asking for halves, only to bring them back. I'd feel like people were wasting my time and energy as a teller. When I eventually do dump all my halves back, it'll be with a few hundred dollars worth of other coins, so they'll just bag 'em and ship 'em off to be counted (my bank doesn't have any local branches with counters).

Went to my favorite branch the other day and noticed the teller had some half dollars in her tray. I could tell some of them were silver so I asked for them and any rolls they might had. Unfortunately she only had one roll but from the $14 in halves, 12 of them were silver! Finally got a '65 too. Funny enough is that the rolls that have silver in them are always in the same (unique) type of paper roll. I'm guessing someone in town has rolls of them and will occasionally bring a couple in for paper money. If only I knew who it was - I would buy all of their halves off of them haha

Great project and just a thought on the NIFC coins 70D,87P&D and above 2001 you may want to pick up a proof for some of those years and there are the satin finish coins of 2005-10 and why not have a silver and clad bicentenial one for 75 and the other for 76
