Bought a dansco 7157 and an extra half dollar page since they didn't have something exactly like I wanted. Went to the bank today and picked up a single roll of half dollars to get started on the Kennedys since I had a $10 on me. Was driving home thinking about how I'd probably end up buying the '65-69 halves (excluding 1966 since I found one of those 10 or so years ago and simply kept it because it was old (not knowing anything about coins at the time)). Well I got home and immediately a 1967 popped out and caught my eye! To think that last summer I got a box of halves, and not finding a single silver one, gave up on searching halves, yet today I get a single roll and find one! Needless to say, I'm going back tomorrow morning to buy a few more rolls . I'll post pictures of the album later for anyone interested.

Nice! Don't forget about the 1970 half, which is also silver, but you'll probably have to buy it because it was NIFC. I've read posts from some of these guys who go through about 300 boxes a week and never find one. I picked mine up for $11 several months ago. Looks like you have a bunch of other late 80s-90s dates there which are (to me anyway) slightly less common in circulation compared to all the early 70s and Bicentennials I find. That '94 almost looks like it could have been someone's pocket piece or something. I myself am working on Kennedys and Franklins (no proofs). Look forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks for the reply, hcmusicguy! This should be a fun set for me- halves are more within my grad student budget than the Morgan/ Peace date set that I've been working on for the last 8 months.
I've realized that I really like working on date sets, so it'll be cool to have an album for the last 100 years of halves! The number of holes in the album worked out perfectly for what I'm doing.

Here's a screen grab of what I've got thus far. I've found that excel (as it is for most things in life) is a great tool for keeping track of my collection!

Sounds like a good project. It looks like you may have a nice 1982 hiding in the first pic.

CL also went to the bank this afternoon an purchased the lone roll of Kennedy halves they had - found 2 '64 coins. Coming home made all the lights without speeding. Might have to buy a lottery ticket tonight the way my luck has been running. Although if I did, the ticket would be a bummer. You have a nice start to the project. Wondering if you were getting one coin per year? Good luck on the project.

Ghostrider- my girlfriend suggested that I buy a lottery ticket as well haha. Yes, I'm trying to get one for each year they were minted- I'm not too worried about the different mints, though I may after this project is completed.

Very nice! Somewhat like the dollar date set that I have been contemplating.

Yep! I've got the first four pages of that album... if only I could buy the fifth without buying the whole album (I have a Morgan date set that I added a blank dollars page to).

If it's a half dollar "date" set why not go back to at least 1892? For the 1922-1926 holes you could add Grant, Monroe Doctrine, Huguenot, Stone Mountain and Sesquicentennial commemoratives, as those are half dollars also. As for the 1930-1932 holes, Moonlight Mint is probably your best bet for fantasy pieces...

I considered doing Barbers as well, but due to my limited budget, I figured that the "100 years of half dollars" idea was the best option. I went back to the bank today to get their remaining halves but unfortunately they only had one roll. No silver this time, but I did find a 2010!

This is a very ambitious project and I commend you for your quest.
Do you plan on collecting everything between 1916 - 2016? IE: all mints, UNC's, Proofs, clad, and/or silver? or just one example for each year?
One suggestion for your album would be to use a Brother P-Touch label maker using clear tape with black letters to identify each coin.
Lastly, I have a loose 2013 D clad UNC Kennedy in a 2x2. PM me if interested.

Ah, dang it! I just purchased a 2013 yesterday (in addition to a 2012 and 2014) from ebay knowing that I would likely not find one in circulation. Collecting everything would certainly be quite the project! I only plan on having one example for each year.
