These can be from a partial (off-center) die cap, a coin struck on an elliptical clip blank, or an elliptical strike clip. The horizontal lipping (where coin metal squeezed over the top of the collar) suggests the first possibility to me. Error coin writer and researcher. Report this Post to the Staff
