PCGS is holding a crossover special for third party grading crossovers to PCGS. If your coin doesn't qualify, you don't pay. Details here: http://www.pcgs.com/News/crossover-...g-beach-expo

"If a submitted coin qualifies for certification by PCGS, to the submitter's specification, the standard grading fee will apply plus one percent of the declared value of the coin in its final grade."

That extra 1% makes this unattractive to me. No thanks.

IMO, this isn't a great deal... If it doesn't cross, you still have to pay a handling fee (is this including shipping or something in addition to shipping)?

I agree, the information is confusing & contradictory to itself. On one hand you have a quote from the PCGS president saying,

"This is an excellent opportunity to submit your coins that have been graded by other third-party grading companies. If the coins do not meet PCGS standards and are not crossed over, you do not pay anything," said PCGS President Don Willis.

In the very next paragraph, "If the coin does not cross, it will be returned in its original holder and only the PCGS handling fee will be charged."

Charged to whom? The president of the company said I do not pay anything. So unless the handling charge is zero...this appears to be a blatant false statement by the President of the company.

The insurance and postage is just expensive and in my opinion does not make this a value. Plus my last experience of return of a PCGS coin submitted just being left on my doorstep ($1600 coin) without signature required is not cool. Too much risk. Just my opinion.

Continuation. It took PCGS almost 2 months to get my coin back to me, yet they put it in an oversized 1-day envelope Fed-Ex envelope to sit on my doorstep. A small USPS envelope that would be delivered in my secure mailbox would have been just fine. End of my rant.
