Been getting 1960's nickels and 1970's cents in AU+ with luster. Anyone else noticing this?

When I did a box of nickels two years ago, I saw several 64s that were in pristine shape.....like they had been socked away in a drawer for a long time.

I haven't gotten any change back for two weeks; I've been trying to get rid of the change that I have. :)

Been noticing that for a long time especially when some look uncirculated.

Not to odd. So many people save change in jars, cans, boxes, etc. and then just dump them into a bank. And remember Nickels are hard so unless in a place with lots of tuff wear, they stay in decent shape. AND if you see any 1964 Nickels in change, keep them. Only way to get rid of all those is to tell people to collect them.

I've seen this too. Whenever I can locate my camera again I need to show off a 1938 nickel I found while I was out in Pittsburgh for 3 weeks. I swear it is at least mint state and I never thought I would find something like that in circulation, even if it was a bankroll!

I haven't gotten any good pre-1990s cents in a good long while, but XF/AU 60s nickels are a regular thing. I used to get 2-5 AU/BU 60s nickels per box a few years ago--odd thing is, the average condition falls drastically starting with 1971.

I have been noticing a fair number of 1960's cents in change recently that are nice AU. Some nice 1970's cents also. I have not gotten any decent early nickels in a long time.
