to the community I don't usually allow links from a new member with only one post, but this one I will allow. All these coins are fakes and are easy to spot by an experienced collector. We have a lot of new collectors here that might not be able to easily spot these as fakes so it good to point them.

ebay policy is to allow coins like this to be sold. The seller has done nothing wrong and is simply using a site that no longer cares as long as it has a percentage of the final sale. Last year, I sold over 17 thousand GBP worth of original coins via ebay, I have closed my shop and account with them and would advise others to do the same. I would suggest selling via this forum. Vcoins is ok, but very expensive. ebay is full of fake ancient coins atm and best avoided. I am actually in the process of drafting an email to the forum dad here to not only bring this subject to everyone's attention, but also to provide a better auction service so we, as collectors, can buy/sell in confidence.

I do have to add though, that this was a very professional 'drive by shooting'........

MetDet71: I'm very new to collecting ancient coins. If a forum such as this allowed coins to be sold, I'd definitely be a very interested buyer!

markbaer, They do have a section to buy from. But I think it could use improvement. I can't promise anything as I am only a 'user' but I also would buy with confidence from this site. I thank you very much for your comment

Hi echizento, Thank you for the welcome. I have been collecting ancient coins for some time now and am never surprised with what these fraudsters have to offer. This particular seller is HIGHLY fraudulent as he's been selling MANY of these fakes for high prices. The "silver shekel" pictured above sold for over $3,100 yesterday!! It's hard to believe someone would be willing to spend that much money on a coin but not do their homework or know how to spot a fake. Anyone interested in reporting this seller's fake coin please use this link as it's the most direct way to report fraudulent coin listings: http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...3Ca%20href='http://stores.ebay.com/FORVM-ANCIEN...+%3E+%3Ca%20I know it's a long link but I assure you it works. I have contacted ebay about this seller and they "assure" me they are investigating. They also stated that the more reports they get about a seller or a coin the better chance they will be removed. MetDet71, I agree with you, ebay seems to not care about these things if people aren't complaining about it. They seem to protect sellers that are making them money, even at the cost of fraudulence. For a beginner, ebay is not the best place to buy coins, but my advice would be to do your homework and don't buy a coin from someone who does not have a professional style listing with proper attributions and presentation. Please everyone if you have the time report these listings so no more unsuspecting collector is defrauded!

ebay did have a section where you could report sellers of fake coins. This ended sometime earlier this year. ebay no longer worries about these sellers and I would be very surprised to see any action taken against this seller.

Contrary to popular belief, ebay actually DOES care to remove fraudulent sellers...this time at least. All of this sellers listings have been removed and he is no longer selling fake coins on ebay, for now.

Well, he did for a while. And I doubt anybody he sold to will see their money back.

By the way you can see he keeps coming back multiple times under numerous user id info. That is a dead giveaway. The truth is those buyers can go after ebay in small claims court and most likely win. I did.
