So I have a 2 sets of sequential serial numbers and I was wondering how much it would affect the value. First, I have 2 1957 silver certificates $1 bills. Second, I have 3 2009 $1 bills. I don't know how to upload pictures on mobile so that's why there aren't any. Any help is appreciated.
I got a bunch of new 1976 $2 bills that were sequential but nobody said if I should spend or keep them so I have no idea really. Guess a coin forum really doesn't do much with paper money?
can you type the serial numbers? maybe that would help if anyone does read this to give any insight for you?
There isn't all that much premium for sequential numbers. Normally they would be priced each individually and added together with maybe a small added premium for being sequential. There's always exceptions to this though. Your two 1957 silver certificates will be worth some and especially if they are crisp uncirculated. The three 2009 $1 bills on the other hand are worth face unless the serial numbers are "fancy". Since it's only three dollars, put them in a plastic paper money sleeve and hang on to them, but they most likely will not gain much value.
Ok thanks. The 57's are in really good condition with no tears or folds (I dont know how to grade money). And I tried to upload pictures but it wont upload.
The 1976 two dollar bills are worth a premium. Here is another possible exception to sequential serial numbers, and quite frankly is very unusual to find since they are rare on their own and both had separate journeys and are in the same grade.
jimbucks, those $20 bills are so strange. I wonder if they circulated together as twins or if they were separated at birth and found each other again years later. Do you actually know that they had separate journeys? What are the chances that they'd come together again? And,what nice notes with stars and fairly low serial numbers.
They did not circulate together. I say that because I bought them on ebay from 2 different sellers in different parts of the country. The most amazing thing is that I bought them on the same day! How unusual is that!
