Im trying to broaden my shopping and find some good online auction sites. I use GreatCollections now, and in a pinch ebay....... but I have no local dealers or stores by me, so I would like any suggestions on new sites. Thanks!

Heritage is popular, Stacks & Bowers as well.

If you wish to buy nice coins directly from the dealers rather than the consigning houses (You may find better rates this way). Try David Lawrence, David Kahn Rare Coins, Dustin Massie Numismatist and Washington Numismatic Gallery. You should also browse VCoins as they host a wide variety of dealer which include some of the best in the world. These are just the ones I've tried and had success with.

I generally just stick to VCoins and ebay and do pretty well this way.

I'm sure others can suggest more.

Cheers!

Not sure how low you want to stoop, but Auctionzip hosts a lot of coin auctions. As long as one does their homework, and reads the fine print, there is a good deal once in a while.

Ive seen prixibid through work. What kills me on some of these is the buyers premium.... I am from Lower Michigan. Short of Chicago shows, anyone know of any other somewhat local shows?

What do you like to collect? I use propertyroom.com quite a bit because they have no buyers premium and they have a variety of coins...

If you collect just bullion coins, then you should check 1stamericanreserve.com or universalcoin.com... These are not auction sites but are nice sites nonetheless...

Have you looked into coin shows? Coin clubs? If you use the internet you may want to check out some of those in your area. Some may take a bit of a drive but as a general rule, well worth the time.

I collect pre 1900 US and Pre 1800 Foreign. I have looked up show, but they are all an hour or more away and usually run while I'm at work. Working 65 hrs a week puts a damper on hobbies and such....
