Love the reverse! Do you suppose we could mint a coin in this day and age with someone being lanced?

That's a great design on the reverse, a little violent, but great.

On average, how long does it take to clean a coin?

Oh my, it all depends on the condition when you get them. Often 24 hrs is a glass of water will do the trick if they come from a desert environment and the crud is mainly sand. Month/Years if it's on harder. I also use a brass brush lightly. Some don't but I do...

The mintmark is ANTS - Antioch, I think.

The reverse legend is "FEL TEMP REPARATIO", abbreviated Latin for "happy times restored", perhaps more loosely translated "happy days are here again" or "we're going back to the good old days" - back to when the Roman legions were victorious everywhere they went, skewering barbarians with impunity.

All propaganda, of course. In reality, the legions were being thrashed.

The mint mark is SMTS. It is RIC VIII Thessalonica 189.

Actually, Constantius II checked the Persians in every major invasion. He also had the more serious problem of usurpers, like Magnentius, which he also handled.
