I bought some Chinese silver coins many years ago when silver was really down. I didn't know if they were real then & still don't know now. I liked the coins & they were cheap enough so I didn't mind.

A friend once told me he thought they might be Chinese silver & he didn't really explain.

What exactly is Chinese silver if it really is something?

it is a composition of 58% copper, 17.5% zinc, 11.5% nickel, 11% cobalt, and 2% silver. Worth a fraction of real silver.

Thanks for the information, I didn't know what it was. I'm surprised it even had 2% silver in it.

I gave $6.00 for eight different coins so I don't feel like I'm out anything.

None of the coins appear to be genuine. It is highly unlikely they contain any silver but likely to contain something magnetic. I usually see them being sold for a dollar or two.

Tried a magnet & it did stick. I'll probably hold on to these then.

I got some German silver I could sell ya. Just kidding. Stay away from stuff you don't know.

Around here, Chinese is synonymous with bad quality or fake. Or both.

I do these days. I mainly bought these because I like the looks of them (all but one) & they came as the set. It only cost me $6.00 so no big loss.

If it's something I don't know or not sure on I never pay much for it if I want it. Feels much safer that way.
