I contacted a couple of the Big Boy auction houses for consignment consideration a few months back, and was snubbed by their appraisers for less than market values and declined my submittal.

I got an email from Heritage stating that they are going to be in town for personal consignment considerations...however their minimum has jumped up to a minimum value of $25K!

A Heritage numismatist will be in the Oklahoma City, OK area soon picking up consignments and meeting with Heritage clients. Whether you have been thinking of selling some duplicates, or your entire collection I'd like to encourage you to visit with me if you are considering selling $25,000 or more in total value.

My total collection value is not quite that much, but I did not want to totally liquidate my collection. I guess I better get back into the kiddie pool instead of trying to swim with the big fish when trying to sell.

Ouch! What were you trying to place in the auction? It is times like this I really miss Teletrade.

I listed 23 coins with GreatCollections, some sold, some did not. I like their lower seller fees; 5% for items below $1000, and FREE if it sells for over $1000. Although they would not add emphasis to a coin such as "Top Pop" or "Unique" in PCGS. There were quite a few that went for less than I wanted but I needed to gather some money to pay off a few bills.

Here is the link to original auction thread, most of them are gone or being returned to me.

Just a clarification, if I may:

The $25,000 figure in our email is there strictly as a way to allow our representative to make the most efficient use of his time in the area. As far as I know, the minimum consignment amount is still $5,000.

If you're considering selling, I encourage you to respond to the email, either by phone or email. If time permits, our representative may still be able to meet with you, but he would certainly be able to help evaluate your potential consignment.
