Have you ever had either a deal from a friend or a dealer or an ebay seller, where you gain maximum profit?
What have you done? Returned it? Told the seller after you bought it?
or just Took it without a word?

Which coin and your response?

Me?

I had a chance to buy a French 1914 Third republic of a friend who doesn't know anything about coins for only $10 when it's actually worth $450. I bought it at first and when doing research I returned it.

What's yours?
Rest in Peace

Your Honesty will be rewarded someday (very soon!!!). You already have the reward of a clear concious and setting a good example for others. You have a good sense of community and you should be proud of that! Good for you. Mike

I have told this tale on another forum, and some members of this one may recall the story.

While attending college in a small Colorado town, I used to take my monthly college-assist check and go to the bank. I would ask for silver dollars. And they were silver!!!! Carson City, New Orleans, Denver, Philadelphia. Most all Morgans, and most all BU. The year would have been about 1963.

Once, after walking a mile to my apartment, through 10 below weather, I found the bank had given me $100 too many silver dollars. I re-traced my steps and returned the money. The response from the teller was "Oh, okay." Not too appreciative.

Can you imagine the numismatic value of those coins today? But then, I have a clear conscience.

These stories are a great testimony to a persons integrity. I love hearing them and they should be inpirational to all who read them. We need good news in this world. I am a firm believer that the good out weighs the bad, but sadly it does not sell newspapers. Mike
