Poll Question
Buffalo-Nickel-Cud-And-Date?

Buffalo-Nickel-Cud-And-Date?

Hello everyone. I picked up this nickel for .20 cents in a junk bin and I liked the reverse Cud (or at least I think it is a Cud, can I get some confirmation?)

Also, poll question, but should I get this buffalo dated? If I do, it will look cleaned (as I intend to get the whole coin submerged) but I could see the date and maybe it could be a rare date, so I do not know. Vote it and say why.

Thanks

EDIT: The coin is currently soaking to be dated. Poll is no longer valid; I just REALLY wanna know what the date of the coin is and can DIY something up to reverse the "clean" affects.

It looks to squared to be a die chip to me so I am thinking PMD.

It's definitely not a Cud. It looks post mint to me but hard to tell from the photos, they're out of focus in the area we're looking at.

It is oddly square for a die chip, but I'm having trouble figuring out what sort of PMD would cause that.

Just a somewhat related question: why is Cud often written as Cud (in all caps)? It's not an abbreviation (like PMD, MD, DDO, etc.). I've noticed this for a while but never got around to asking.

OH, so that is the definitions of Cud and die chip and they are not the same. Thank you.

Sorry about the photos; I have coin in hand and I'm doubting PMD to be honest. Now that I think about it, yeah, it DOES look like a die chip. I guess in my inexperienced-ness when I bough the thing, I marked it off as Cud, not knowing the difference. Nevertheless, it still looks cool and I am still glad that I bought it.

The coin is currently a 19?-D so I think I will date this thing and see what is what.

EDIT: @ALP, Naw, that is jsut how I, me personally, spell Cud, in all caps. I don't know why

I'd put it in a large can I use for coins destined to go to a bank. However, if your a collector of damaged coins, then just save it.

@just carl

I have a blue glass jar-thing with a lid where I keep all of my coins that I find and use them for CHR to replace the difference I take out.

Though I don't have an album for Buffalo nickels (yet), I will still hang on to any I get anyways.
