This nickel is a different variety, is it worth that much though?

I would say not worth the asking price, it looks to be in ~AG condition so I wouldn't pay more than $3 or so for it.

On another note, all the V nickels from 1893 have "CENTS" on the reverse; they omitted this word for only part of the first year of issue (1883) and quickly added it because people were gold plating these nickels and trying to pass off the plated coins as $5 gold pieces.

Online price guides are normally very inflated, I'd suggest using numismedia (it says $15 for a with cents in G) as a reference, but they are still a little off.

A low grade coin is really hard to resell, so you probably would be lucky to break even if you're trying to turn a profit. And that's before auction fees/shipping

I think there might be a little confusion here; the auction linked to describes and shows an 1893 V nickel which is listed as ~$6 in G condition in the Red Book. I think the seller might be confusing this with an 1883 nickel (the "CENTS" variety) that Adam describes with the $15 figure.

For an 1893, there's no reason to say "w/cents" unless the seller is mistaking it (intentionally or unintentionally) with an 1883, where this distinction is meaningful.

Yep, I'm glad I could help

While the listing technically is truthful (of course it says "CENTS" on the back of an 1893), it does seem a tad misleading to me... Along with the price that is being asked, it's understandable to mistakenly interpret the listing as being for the 1883. All the more reason to scrutinize the actual coin before considering to bid!
