This seller has this coin posted now at least 8 times. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Canada-10-Ce...S:SS:US:3160He refuses to accept that ICCS made a mistake. and ICCS does not care. I did actually make them aware of it, but no action was taken. IMO, a typical example of " in our opinion", and it does not matter if it is right or wrong. Charlton is very clear on what a Large 9 in this coin must look like. Then, I might be totally wrong? Am I ?

Large in my books as well. I have found that in nearly 30 years of dealing with Brian Cornwell and then ICCS, there is not a problem with him saying he makes a mistake and then corrects it. They are spot on with this coin in my opinion.

So, how do you guys then explain the very small inside of the 9? large 9 has a large, nearly round inside! There was a mistake in one of the Charlton Cataloges.!!! It was then corrected the following year! please check again to confirm. I have both, small and large, double. and Both ICCS certified. both 9s are large inside! I bought them when the mistake in the book was listed. it was reversed!

Paccoin, if you have any certified, please check them. same goes for all of you. I have $ 10 for 4 a charity, or a poor single mom, or elderly poor lady ( I sometimes buy them their groceries before xmas at stupid store) that this coin listed is NOT a L9. please convince me otherwise. thanks

The hole in the 9 can become apparently smaller due to die wear combined with wear on the coin. Look at the position of the 9 instead, top of the large 9 protrudes slightly above a line drawn from the top of the 8 to the top of the 2, small 9 will be below this line. The ebay coin is indeed large 9.

All 21 of mine are ICCS certified with grades ranging from G4 to VF30. They are in a bank safety deposit box and are not readily accessible.

47p7- The date is evenly worn therefore everything is as proportional as it was before. Considering the entire date is a little flattened or spread out the center of the 9 looks as it should..large. A small 9 evenly worn would still be small. IMO

I fully recognize what you guys are saying and I like to believe it. However, I still have many questions about it. One of them being: why would Charlton not indicate how to recognize a large / small nine, why do they show the inside round as the difference? another: why would they not simply show the height of the 9 as the marker? would be so much easier. right? it is a constant learning, as I believed it to be the round inside of the 9. I know, metal "flows" with wear. But does it flow in exact proportions in all directions?

Rather than fussing over the large 9, examine Charlton's photo of the small 9. The small 9 is noticeably tinier, and distant from the adjacent numerals. The top of the small 9 in noticeably lower than the adjacent numerals, and the bottom is noticeably higher than the adjacent numerals. If the small 9 can be eliminated, from consideration, the 9 must be of the large variety.

There are many markers which Charlton's cannot mention for copyright reasons, this may be one of them.

Just looked at 4 1892's. and this is honestly the first time that I look at them from your perspective. I have to totally agree with all of you. Sorry for being so persistent. so far I have only looked at the fat inside 9. Thanks for making me re-consider.
