I recently acquired a little pocket microscope by Carson, and it works very well. It is very inexpensive at the price of 11-12 dollars(US). Already went through a lot of my cents that I got from the bank, and found a few goodies, but the main point I have here is that I have searched my wheat cents about 3-4 times, all 300 of them, but I went back to check for the minor double dies and found another 1957 D RPM. Well then, never give up on coins you've checked multiple times. It's almost like metal detecting when you have hunted an area many times, that's how I found my first silver!

Sounds really good. I wish I had the time to examine every coin I have like that. Am sure I miss a lot!

And I am very lucky to have time for it! But being in highschool as a freshman means I have tons of time. (Don't worry, I'm advanced honors, making all A's)

it happens. I went through a plastice cup of pre 1940's cents, which I had previously checked. I found a
1938D 1DDO-001/1DDR-001, and 3 others that I think are DDR's. I checked them originally when I was first starting to search for varieties - but found them after gaining some knowledge and experience.

they were fun to find, as I am sure that yours are too..

CC - it's good advice. One of these days I'll get around to a couple piles waiting for me. That said I wish I still had a couple piles I cashed in. Hind sight being what it is.

Unfortunately I have virtually thousands of coins so going back to look at all of them would take the rest of my life and since more are added all the time, would never end. However, every time I hear or read of some oddball type popping up I do go look at all of mine like that. For example when I first heard of the 36D 3 1/2 legged Buffalo nickel I did go back and look at possibly several hundred Nickels. It is a good practice though but if I needed a high powered magnifier to do it, sure would take a lot of time.
