Since my e-mail server is still down and no amount of ranting at my Hosting service seems to be getting it up any time soon. I had not a lot to do this morning.
So off to the first of the pocket parks I found on Google earth on Sunday. Man do I love Google earth.
This park was less then 5 miles from my house in an older neighborhood (Built in the 60's) It was divided up into three sections Swings sand box and an old Jungle Gym.
I switched on and started to play around the swings.
After an hour I still had not finished the swing area and it was just way too hot to continue. I have to say that I am going back to finish it off. This park has not been searched in a long time.

This is what I have pulled from the area around the swings so far.

Nohope, great finds, man. Where do yo go to find this much and how much garbage do you dig up? I try and have very little luck. Any thought you have would be greatly appreciated.

City parks in older neighborhoods are the best so far try to find ones that not many people outside the area know about. The one I visited today has been totally enclosed by new subdivisions and hence its no visible from any of the main roads. you have to drive through a couple of neighborhoods to get there.
My ACE has a very good discriminator and I can pretty much eliminate foil I also have a set of headphones and you can actually hear the difference between a ring pull and a nickel. well most of the time anyway. What you see is everything I dug including the trash.

That is where surfing around on Google Earth is a good thing. Yesterday afternoon we saw someone TH'ing in the park. My ankle biters do the same thing, but never after about 7:30 in the morning so no questions or looky loos. Besides you get the dropped coins from yesterday before anybody else does.

Hey Brother Richard ... I'm pretty sure that Corona cap is mine.

All levity aside ... I haven't been out for weeks because of the heat. It's been 25 degrees warmer here around St Louis than 250 miles north in Chicago.

Using google earth to find "pocket parks" is a great idea and I'm going to look into it for my own area as I've nearly exhausted the one park I know of.

Friendly reminder, when you discriminate out foil, you miss the gold and silver jewelry. With that amount of clad in your photo I'd be VERY surprised if you don't find jewelry there when digging foil signals.

Sir, I can not begin to express how impressed I am with how fast you recover things. I am new to detecting and it is sometimes a painstakingly slow process to excavate a find. Anyway happy hunting...

The Key is in the pinpointing. Once you know where your detectors sweet spot is you can usually just slip a screw driver into the ground and flip up the coin. I also have a sand scoop for the areas with sand and pea gravel.
