I've been saving up for a Garrett Ace 250 and was going to start medal detecting. What would be some tips for a newbie? What are the best ways for finding old lots and foundations? I live somewhat close to the historic town of Harpers Ferry, WV, although that location has probably been searched like crazy, I think that would be a nice start. I'm mostly looking for coins, I will take relics but I think my main focus is coins. Silver would be a dream .

the most important piece of advice I could give you is to learn your machine before you go anywhere. Try burying coins and seeing how they register. I have been out with people that are total newbies and cant find anything, they say the srea they detected was barren but I went over with my machine and found plenty, so best to know how it all works and what the signals are first.
