very nice old album toning, no signs of problems
I might have to send this one into PCGS and I think they would give a VF30 to it. It's well beyond a VF20 but not quite near a 35. Tough to call but what say you CCF?

I saw it, and I thought VF25, so that is what I am grading it.
Nice 1828 dime by the way!

thanks to all for the thoughts and opinions. Germanic, how does this stack up against any JR-1s you have in the vault? I do not know if I have seen your posting of this issue.

So would any of you place this in a PCGS or would you go with the ANACS fall special at $12.50 a coin?

Hi dsfreeworld, I actually do not have a 1828 JR-1.
My example is a JR-2, in grade similar to your JR-1. I'll see if I can find pictures and post it soon.

Ds, here is my JR-2.
It is nicely toned and original, but unfortunately does have a noticeable rim nick quite visible above the cap on the obverse. My guess is it will not grade cleanly.

I remember finding a decent JR-2 was not easy, so I am happy to have it
as-is.

Oh, and I made a mistake - looking at it now, I think it grades lower than your JR-1.

Both issues of the 1828 10c are quite difficult to locate problem free in a raw state (no TPG) and in any grade from what I can tell. I like your large date and that is next on my hit list. Thanks for sharing.
