You know what I like most about this coin? Its wicked off center and worn, just enough to insure authenticity. With that being said its a great choice for a JC coin. It seems that more and more folks are buying these and I always see them for sale. One of these days I will get one. One of these days. Its been quite a long while since I bought a Roman. Even the last Roman I got in trade from VK wasn't REALLY a Roman, but a Goth, but I suspose that is only a modern distinction and thus a different thread.

Nice coin. Worthy of any collection.

Thank you Noob. I have seen prettier examples, with a pretty price tag. I am more than happy with this. It has a character all of its own!

What does something like that cost? Where did you acquire it?

It was the cheapest I have seen in a long time. I got it through Denant on ebay, they have a store on Vcoins and a good reputation. Search Vcoins for Julius Caesar elephant. Some of the prices will make your eyes pop!

Beautiful! I like that it's off-center. Perfect coins are boring, they have no soul, but coins that are worn, holed, broken etc. They have stories, they are alive!

Really nice. I want one of these types someday. I have a venus/gallic captive type but this is the one I really want. :) The bold details on your example more than make up for the slightly off center strike.

Very nice! I know very little (ok nothing...haha) about coins, but what I like best about that one is that the 'C A E S A R' is very clear!

Thank you all for your nice comments. It is supposed to be kept in the case, but I keep taking it out, I am slightly worried that there will be no detail left if I don't put it back :)

Nah, take it out and play with it! That's one of the best parts of collecting ancients :)
