on starting a new thread, after thinking about it I think the price is right on the blunt and the dots are way overrated, after all its just a die pit. sure its cool but die pits are common, in fact the 47 blunt I got has tons of die pits that are stronger than the dot on the pointed 7 dot.

honestly I think the real sleeper of the 1947s is the 47 ml, it only has a mintage of a couple thousand more than the famed 1948. but than again for a date set not everyone includes the varieties although I think the ml is a must for the set no one needs it for a date set.

end of story is let the market decide

Pacific,
why would you say that? There just a few around, a lot less than 1948s
47P& dots are not a every day occurrence.
IMO, they are scarcer than a 48 and totally under valued compared to the 48.
but, you must have your reasons?

Dollarman: the key is, as far as I know, that dot as placed on purpose. wrong? right?
anyone know?
and, to be blunt, the ML is actually a 1948 dollar !

47p you did not read what I said . I said the 47 Blunt is not underpriced"".........the 47 pointed and dot are underpriced and under appreciated in my opinion. In my mind a 47 pointed 7 in real ICCS MS63 or better is a condition rarity and probably the key to the entire dollar series. The 1947 DOT is considered to be a die chip by many, I do have other theories on that. I purchased 4 1947 Pointed 7 Dots in Portland at the PNNA last week and they are off to ICCS next week. Question I have is why do all1947 Pointed 7 Dots ,even in EXF AU show stronger reverse details than a non dot.? Hmm might just have something to do with the use of a still useful specimen reverse die .
