There are a few CDs/DVDs listed on ebay containing PDFs of coin identification books, including BMC and RIC.
Does anyone have one of those?
And if yes, which one and how good is it?

I have RIC. Series of PDFs they are not searchable so you have to trawl through them. Have some others, also PDFs usually written in the 1800s and hard to read.

Selling digital copies of RIC is a copyright violation.

I thought my copy was really old. I have just had a look and it is 1984. Oops.

I bought one of the sets that had a bunch of old out of copyright books (I think some were late 1800s and most were pre 1930) which are sort of cool to look through but not particularly useful for identification. A few were searchable though which was nice. It was from "treasure hunters" or something.

You can get ERIC from their website legally. I think you can get the old edition for free and the new one for money.

There are a lot of these floating around on ebay, I'm surprised that they allow them to be sold, they have to know this is a copy-write violation.

It's the same as fake coin listings...Ebay is not aware until you notify them. I have done this several times, they will investigate and end the auction if they agree it is a violation. The person then just starts a new auction and the cycle repeats...Ebay might even eventually ban them but then they just start a new account.

Thanks for all the feedback.
'chuy1530' is that (the) one which has dozens of old books including BMC?
And how many of those are 'searchable'?

Everyone was telling me to buy some 'reference books' so I bought . . .

Greek Coins and their Identification by Richard plant, and I bought
THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ROMAN IMPERIAL COINS - By Rasiel Suarez, and
Coins, Medals Numismatics Tokens Collecting Guide Manuals, and
ROMAN SILVER COINS by H.A.SEABY ( VOL 1 + VOL 2 + VOL 3 + VOL4 + VOL5), and I bought
ROMAN COINS AND THEIR VALUES by DAVID R.SEAR - (VOL1 + VOL2 + VOL3), and
BYZANTINE COINS AND THEIR VALUES by DAVID R.SEAR and,
Coins of British Oceania by Robert L. Clarke, and,
Model T Ford + The History of Cars Motor Cycles (Ooooops!)

And now I am told that a number of them might be in violation of copyright, and those that aren't are hard to read without trolling through the whole thing?

Bah! Humbug!

I think I'll go and buy another car.
