Not uncommon with the large retailers. It's easy to lose track of inventory especially when you're doing ebay, your own website, over the counter and possibly even show sales.

I'm not sure I would have gone and offered a lower grade item without having sweetened that pot first, but I definitely understand the difficulties of managing shared inventory.
Try not to be too angry with them, though. They're capable of making mistakes too!

I have only had positive experiences with CA. They have great deals and once they forgot some stuff in my order and express shipped it to me the next day. I ordered some junk silver once and one of the dollars was a bit worn so they threw in a silver dime to make up for it. I could understand how they may loose track of stuff. If they sold it on their store and then find out it sold on ebay.....just had to make the decision on who gets cut.

Fellows, todays technology provides real time inventory! OR, do you all think they keep track of their inventory manually? think again. there is NO excuse for a firm like them to claim otherwise. their mark ups are such that they can afford it. AND, if they sell it OTC, they have a responsibility to immediately cancel the listing on the bay. there is a provision for that.. although at some costs. I honestly believe that supporting them with this, is doing us all a huge disfavor, as it will happen again. IF THEY PLAY RIGHT AND HONEST, nobody GETS CUT, but they pay the fees.

I frequently buy from them and haven't had any issues. Shipping can be slow sometimes but it always arrives. :)

I only have only positive dealings with Colonial Acres. They are a good company to do business with.
Mistakes happen with big and small companies. At least they did not charge you for the item; so in the end what did you really lost? Unless it is the only coin in the world there should be another one like that somewhere.

I have dealt with them numerous times, and every time they were top notch. Definitely keeps me going back to them. Mistakes do happen, even if inventory is electronically logged there is still a person on the other end. It happens.

Only ever had one problem, was sent a toned coin when it wasn't identified as such in the details, they refunded in full with shipping costs. Very good customer service.

As a former inventory manager overseeing 27 warehouses I call BS on this one. It is very easy for inventory mixups to happen. From the responses written here it is not a common thing for this vendor so someone somewhere sold or misplaced something the should have left alone. These things happen. Computerized inventory is far from foolproof.
