Stuck as usual, I'm starting to wonder if it is a jeton. It's part of a seller's job lot, so apologies for the image quality:

From the style it looks like a jeton, Brabant perhaps.

Seems to be a French copper counter token:
Copper alloy French 'Crown' jetton struck during the reign of Charles VII (1422-1461) of France, with the religious legend on the obverse: AVE.MARIA.GRASIA.PLENA (HAIL MARY FULL OF GRACE); Mitchiner 539

Thank you Petrus and Medieval.

I already have an AVE MARIA GRATIA PLENA from a much later date, which made me think I should be looking for something around 1560. It never occurred to me that it would be earlier.
