Acid shrunk coin. Diameter is smaller, and details are mushy and eaten away.

If acid were the culprit and the coin was this much reduced I would guess by this point there would be no details left at all...I mean look how thin it is! My guess....a crude and amateur attempt at making a cast copy. Only a guess though

Acid eats from any surface equally. So even though the coin is this thin now the details won't be gone since the fields are also being eaten away.
