I have this 1928 Australian half Penny with a spur or stoke on the top left of the 8 in date.
Any thoughts?

That's interesting. I don't recall seeing that before.

If you think a thread (either one of yours or someone else's) should be moved to a different part of the forum, just hit one of the "Report" links in the bottom left corner of the posts, and explain nicely that you think the thread should be moved elsewhere. The moderators may grumble a bit, but that's part of their job. (Moving threads, I mean... not grumbling.)

As to the coin, it sure looks impressive enough (and I'm not a keen variety-hunter). It's not listed in the Renniks-McConnelly varieties book. Maybe we could call it the "winged 8"?

Thanks for that info in regards to moderators, much appreciated Sap. The stroke is so very short and fat, and is flush in thickness of the 8. I cannot decide if it is a die break, or foreign object. Regardless, we shall call it the winged 8, I like that.

It looks like there might be a vague figure over-stamped hidden behind the "8" but it could just be my imagination..is there anything between the thick, upper left part of the "8" and the thinner, lower part?

Perhaps a very weak/ faint dot in the upper section, but just a bit of grime in the lower.
