Qing Dynasty, Obv "Shun Zhi Tong Bao", Rev "Boo Chiowan", 1657-1661, Board of Revenue mint

Can't tell if genuine - what is the size and weight?

See a counterfeit specimen here.

It looks like it was overstruck on something. There are faint characters visible on both sides which shouldn't be present, especially at the top and bottom of the reverse.

See a genuine coin here which has the same faint characters telling of an overstrike. Could be a good indication that you have a genuine coin.

Another genuine coin with overstrike evidence here, apparently rated as very common.

Weight and size are good - I'd say it's very probably genuine. The denomination is 1 Wen, by the way, and one catalog reference is DH#5.20.

The coin looks absolutely authentic to me.

These coins were cast in moulds.

Being "overstruck" and showing "faint characters" would only be possible on struck coins, not coins cast in moulds.

Yeah I definitely got my terminology mixed up there, of course they can't be overstruck when they were cast!
What's the correct term to use for the ghost characters then? Am I just misinterpreting the casting flows / wear pattern and seeing things that aren't there?
