Let's make this interesting: once I get your opinions on this coin's grade, I'll post my own and tell you how much I paid.
I still buy unslabbed coins online, which is where I got this one. But to mitigate the risk of buying a counterfeit, I have a couple of rules: a) I only buy the commonest dates (hoping counterfeiters wouldn't bother with those), and b) I set a strict limit on how much I'll spend. Other quirks: I don't like to buy shiny-bright coins that look dipped, and I put my raw coins into Intercept Shield holders as you can see here.
Thanks, guys. We're all on the same page. I consider it slightly better than F12 except for the rim damage. I bought it at auction for $26. You can't see it in the photos, but when I got it home and put it under the magnifier I found what looks like polishing (perhaps whizzed) on the obverse at 10 to 11 o'clock; this is very faint and can only be seen at a certain angle and under magnification. Considering all of this, I'm happy with my purchase.
