Hi,

I noticed that the serial numbers on one of my polymer $20 bills look smudged. I understand that errors with serial number inking are often not recognized because they are easy to remove or fidget with chemicals (e.g. missing digits). Would you consider this a legitimate error, or could these have been tampered with? If this is a legitimate error, what may have caused the smears? Thanks!

While that side has a little smear, this is the side that I really want to know about:

Not large enough quantity in which smudged, it is a spender in my opinion. however it is as if it has doubling as would a coin. so wait for a second opinion. There isn't much of a market for errors in which are hard to see or notice.

Alright. Thanks for your opinion. It is noticeable from the first picture (at least to me), but the picture quality isn't that great. I'll hold onto this until I get some more feedback.

I showed the bill to someone in person at my local flea market. He said that the bill is not an error; the cause would likely have been a bank machine or something like that. He suggested I keep it because it might be recognized as an error years from now. It's in decent shape so why not?
