First thing is I'd like opinions on whether these are real, second any possible identification would be helpful. Those are the best quality pictures available, unfortunately. Would like some insight into what they are to give me an idea of a price if I'd be so inclined to make a bid. The auctions description is thusly: (2) Ancient Cons: 1- Late Roman Third Century, 1- Byzantine or Greek (No Date) Thanks.

Is there a minimum required bid on this lot?

Not really. Bidding starts at $1.00, it's got one bid already so the next bid would be $1.50 (and the guy probably has a max bid, so I'd probably have to go higher than $1.50), no reserve. Then there's a 10% buyer's premium.
Why do you ask? What do you know that I don't?

The second coin is from the Macedonian Kingdom. The obverse is a Macedonian shield. The BA on the reverse indicates that this is a posthumous issue of Alexander III (The Great). There are numerous shield design patterns along with reverse monograms. Reference for these coins are listed in the Price catalog which I don't have. Whirlwind's shows a few of these but not the exact match for this coin.
The first coin is too corroded for me to say if it's real and who it is.

The first is a Roman provincial from Cotiaeum in Phrygia, not sure who the emperor is though - needs a trip through BMC to find out.

Actually, it is echizento who knows what I don't! With the info he has supplied, and if were me, I would start (and wait until then) at $25. With what I see, (and I was interested), I would go to around $40; the 10% extra. Someone has to pay shipping on top of that.

The Alexander is a nice coin fairly well centered with very nice detail. As sel stated a $40 coin, perhaps even a bit more. The condition of the other coin isn't great and has limited value, maybe $10. So if you can get them both for $40 it would be a good deal.

Quote: Pardon me, but what is "BMC"? Sorry for not writing down the whole title. But others have already done. Phrygia is in volume 25. Had a quick look at the plates, your coin is not on them so you have to go through the text and try to read as much of the obverse inscription as you can. There is one coin with the reverse on the plates though, but the obverse does not have a radiate head - it is from Philip Senior.
