Hello all,

Newbie here, so forgive me if I make any forum faux pas.

Got this 2013-P Jefferson nickel from work at the coin store about a year back. Here are pics (apologies that they are not the greatest, still need to figure out a camera set up):

As you can see, Jefferson's left eye is underneath the steps of Monticello in the first image. In the second, there appears to be a bit of his hair in the M in America. On the third image, the obverse has a raised bridging Jefferson's eye and partially coming out of his head.

I've lovingly dubbed this die clash the "Eye of Monticello." I also have three of them, because they came in a series of 2013 mint sets. And, oddly enough, the only other one to appear on the internet also came from Wisconsin!

What do you make of that?

Wow, that's a must stronger die clash than mine! Also made me realize I had my orientation wrong and that image 2 couldn't be Jefferson's hair, because he's on the left side of the reverse. Probably the "W" in "WE" instead.

Atlas - have a look here: https://goccf.com/t/189808

This should help you with orientation of the clash marks. Check the doorways/windows on the Monticello.

Thanks for pointing out the overlay Rackster! I thought the line over the right central window in Image 1 was Jefferson's nose. Now I know it's the side of his face!

Found some other clash areas, but too minor to take photos of. An interesting curiosity and good story, nonetheless.

No problem Atlas - it's definitely a cool coin to hold onto and discuss with others.

Indeed - Jefferson's face was flattened in spots and there were other witness marks from the Monticello on the obverse for my coin.
