It's similar to http://numismatica-italiana.lamonet...neta/W-LTI/1
You find several images on the page. From the corrupt writing style I would assume that it is an imitation (probably contemporary).

The ruler's title, streaming down from the flag, clearly is not "DVX" as it is on Venetian coins. So I'm thinking Serbian (in the Venetian style), rather than Venetian proper. The second coin down on this BeastCoins page looks like a good match: King Stephen Uros II. Once you know what it says, you can read the left-side legend as "VROSIVS".
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Methinks you nailed it 'Sap' including my suspicion of it being a contemporary imitation.

Not only that, it is a valid coin in itself.
Many coins got imitated in one form or another over the centuries.
To give you two other examples:
There are many issues which copy the English cross penny, those are known as Sterlings.
And the coinage from Tours was extensively copied in the middle ages, both the Grossus and the Double de Tournois.

Your coin is as 'Sap' showed an
AR Denar (Matapan) of King Stefan II Milutin (1282-1321).
