How does one quote a reply on a thread.

Sometimes when a thread gets many comments one would like to respond to a particular reply. How do you quote that reply in order to make it clear what you are referring to?

I am sure the answer is somewhere in these threads, but I have not found it yet.

Maya
When I quote someone I place this bracket [ then the word quote than this bracket ]
I then place the quote by copying and pasting then after the bracket,
I place this bracket [ then the forward slash /, than word quote than this bracket ].

and it looks like this

quote:
I am sure the answer is somewhere in these threads, but I have not found it yet."

Hi Maya, welcome to the forum. Highlight the words you want to quote and right click and copy. When posting your reply, start by pasting the words into your post. Once pasted, highlight them again and select the quote button which is right above the words you are typing. Second from the right, next to the "bullets" icon. It's a notepad with a red arrow. If you hold your cursor over it it will say what it is. Remember, you have to highlight again the words you copied and pasted into your reply before selecting the quote button. You can also preview your reply to make sure it is correct.

Quite correct. However.. you use the [ and the ] around quote to produce the
quote:
quote.
Just like the rest of the forum tags.

This is the button to use >> How-To-Quote-A-Reply?

But actually it's easier to hit the button first then paste in between the empty tags. Saves a step.

Ahhhhh. I see. I've been using "Quick reply" all this time, which is why I've never seen that button. The quick reply is just too easy to use for us lazy people!

This is great. I tried the different methods and they all work beautifully.

Thank you all so much for your help.
