I'm looking for a lower quality turtle because of my budget, but I'm unsure of certain samples I've found. I'm hoping you guys have some experience with determining fakes of this strike.

First Sample - The type of pitting looks odd to me because it's so prevalent and the coin is clean otherwise.

Sample 2 - This one appears authentic to me after looking at certified samples. The shape of the turtle looks odd though.

Sample 3 - What are the lines on the reverse? Again, the shape of the turtle doesn't look like others I've seen.

Number 3 looks like a repro. Can't tell anything about the second one, it needs to be in focus.

Numer 1 and 2 are legit number 3 is a bad fake.

I am leaning towards number 1 as the one I would pick.

Thanks guys.

Any ideas on dates? The oldest go to around 550BC or so. Would these be more in the 400-500BC range?

These "Sea turtle" variations are usually dated 550-530 BC. You really don't see the "tortoise" coins appear to the end of the 5th century BC. Hope this helps.
