Hello, I recently went to the bank and picked up a roll of Halfs. No silver, but I found 4 or 5 bi centennial half dollars... I first thought that I should keep them all, but now I'm starting to think that they aren't that rare. So, should I save all of them, or only the really super good ones?

Not rare at all actually. If I kept every single one I came across, I'd be swimming in 'em. Fun to spend though! (That goes for all halves actually)

With a mintage of over 500 million vs 28 million for those from 2 years later vs. 3.5 million from a few years ago I would say....spend 'em

Not only did they have huge mintages, but they were saved by so many people just because they were different. It is extremely common to find jars and bags of them when processing estates. Save them if you love them but I wouldn't expect to EVER get more than a half dollar for one (or maybe 50 cents!).

I would rather spend them than save them. They'll never be worth more than 50 cents each, at least in my opinion.
I'd find them more fun to spend and to see the reaction of the person behind the counter.

Spend them or return to your dump bank - same with Bicentennial quarters.
Neither of these issues will ever gain numismatic value below IMHO certified MS67 state.

I too do not keep bicentennial halves without some other reason.
There is something about bicentennial Quarters however that appeal to me. I don't know if it is a better relief or what but they just look like a better strike than other year's quarters. Has anyone else noticed this?

Unless you'd like to save a couple BU examples you find (NGC says they're worth about a dollar at MS62 and 4-6 at MS-64), not much but MS coins are the only decent ones to save. But if you get a whole roll of them, there's no need to save them all. BU's are still, for some reason, fairly common in circulation.

I save only the MS64 and higher ones.....In two years I have about two rolls...........fully 15% of the halves I search are 1976's

Concerning the bicent quarters, I listed 17 rolls of BU for best offer over face value, on C'list. No bite for three weeks, so I cashed 'em in.

Yes, you and everyone else should keep every one you come across imo. I am getting tired of seeing them all the time.
