Hello,

I have recently got into coin collecting and would like to collect inexpensive circulating coins such as pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins. Which album, Dansco or Whitman would be better? Please list some pros and cons for each.

Thank you

to the Community!

I prefer Dansco, but there is nothing wrong with Whitman. It is possible that Dansco are made better, but I have no real experience with Whitman to confirm or deny that.

Ultimately the difference is aesthetic. Choose the one you think looks better.

I prefer Whitman, but there is not much of difference. As Jbuck had said, whichever one looks best.

Happy collecting!

Do you like blue or brown pages? The other big differences are Dansco is slightly taller and fits more coins per page. Dansco seem to be better constructed and holds up better looking at used albums.

The thing that bugs me about Dansco is the way the slides work. I don't like that they don't have a finger tab and you end up getting finger prints on the slide above one of your coins to get it out. Whitman has a finger pull so you don't have to worry.

One sort of important thing to note is Dansco is made in the USA. Littleton is also made in the USA.
Don't know why but Whitman has now gone to outsourcing their products to China. Their Albums are becoming cheaper made and it shows. I recently purchased a few and was shocked at how lousy they now are. Those things that hold the pages together are so cheaply made, now really difficult to get them out.
I still like the Whitman color better than Dansco Brownish.

I agree with others that the Dansco is made a little better.
I used to have Whitmans, I really liked the blue albums, but they all started falling apart.
Main problem was delamination. I changed over to Dansco, and haven't had an issue since.
I am well over 20 Danscos now. I have heard people say that the Littleton albums are low
quality, but don't know that first hand. There are a few different 'green' albums, but if
I recall, it's the Intercept Shield that is the good brand if you like the green.
