Maybe it's an ad? I remember my wife got an invite and a small discount on the selling fees for opting in. Maybe a week or so back?

The buyer responded and agreed to exchange the product and reimburse me for the return shipping costs.

Case closed. :D

Good to Hear Wilson, I think these new policies will make the sellers who try this sort of thing have to step up their game a bit. Its going to be an easier decision for the buyer to return an item if they are not happy with it since the seller has to pay postage both ways, although it is going to make the cost to sell on ebay even that much more higher.

I do not think shipping is covered both ways on returns automatically. The policy posted in the link on page 1 says "only if the seller agrees in his return policy if not, the buyer is on the hook for return shipping"

Can anyone confirm otherwise?

I dont really know Coin Chick, just repeating what Pocket Change posted. I tried to look it up on ebay but didnt see anything about seller paying both ways , maybe I didnt look in the right place though...

Quote:
Like I stated previously, rules changed for sellers in November. When a case is filed with ebay, for not as described, the seller pays shipping both ways: to and from the buyer. Filing under Paypal you have 6 month to file a claim of not receive or not as described.
You are also a seller; you need to be familiar with the policies of both ebay and Paypal. Take some time and read them, also you can post questions in eBays buyers forum, under ebay community. They're a very helpful bunch.
Also when a buyer does a refund it earn one defect, and Paypal will not refund the seller their portion of the fees.

I did find this but I think it not new.

Quote:
Sellers are only responsible for the return shipping costs if they have stated a free return shipping policy in their listing, or if the item doesn't match the item description and a buyer opens a case against the seller.

Here's a closer look at the reasons buyers can give for a return:

Reason for return Responsibility for return shipping

Does not fit.... Per seller's return policy

No longer want/need.... Per seller's return policy

Found better price.... Per seller's return policy

Defective/Does not work .... Seller

Item differ from listing .... Seller

Missing parts or accessories.... Seller

Arrived damaged .... Seller

If it`s a justified return (damage, item not as described, etc) the seller pays both ways, otherwise pays the buyer.

So how do you get the return shipping back? I've had 2 items not as described and were sent back. I was never refunded my return shipping.

You probably have to open a case to get the shipping back. Most buyers don't understand that in certain circumstances the seller is required to pay return shipping, so most don't pursue the matter.

Yeah, but if it's only you who says it's not as described it's not enough. The seller has to accept it in writting. Otherwise, you have to open a case with ebay (or Paypal) and once they side with you (most likely) then you can ask to have the return shipping fees reimbursed.

It's eBays money back guarantee that launch either oct or nov. the not as described or not received issues need to be filed through my ebay as official claims: so you will be issued a return label for return shipping. Otherwise the buyer is not refunded, if he buys his own shipping at post office.

I think the want to go the formal route so they can add a defect to the person.
Look the policy up under: ebay Money Back Guarentee.
