Please give me your ideas on a grade for this 1883 with cents nickel. Found in a box with other coins, definitely the best, others were average circulated '36 and '37 Buffalo nickels. Thanks dcas55

I would give it an EF45. I gave it an EF45 instead of an EF40 because of all the hair detail, especially below LIBERTY.
Great find!

Based upon these photos - the coin shows ample hairlines on both surfaces ... evidence of a mechanical cleaning.
Technical grade is AU - Details (Cleaned).

Thank you all for the responses. As I learn more about this hobby I discover more questions. Can you please tell me what is meant by "mechanical cleaning" and what is possible "PVC infection" and is there something I can do about it?

PVC is a chemical that used to be used in coin flips. It is VERY harmful to coins and it created those green areas on your coin.

AU-50 details, cleaned. PVC=Polyvinyl chloride. It's used to make plastic flips more flexible and less brittle.
