I don't know about First Spouse coins but I believe the Franklin Mint has come back to life and is producing Prez medals. IMO, the U.S Mint doesn't want our orders. They want a few large orders from the big fish.
I say give them what they want and remember it when the lean days return to U.S Mint.

Did you use the same credit card number? My theory is something to do with mint tried to cut down the duplicate order and they look at credit card number and address, etc. If they found something they feel "fishy", they will remove the order. just a thought.

I keep away from all the Mint's special, fantastic, extra ordinary, commemorative, once in a life time deals. Those coins as already mentioned are fad coins and very possibly will end up with the Beanie Babies. Every year I order about 10 to 15 proof and uncirc sets from them for Christmas Presents. Always receive them all in a few days. Don't want to ever get involved with things like those first wife things. Sorry to hear about your bad luck but in reality, the Mint may have done you a favor.

There have been several people who apparently got that email in error. In the cases I have heard of after they called the mint and asked about it they were told it was an error and their orders online switched to In Process. What did the mint say when you called? If whoever you got said it was cancelled I'd try calling again. And who are you calling? if it is the order number you are talking to ouside hired help who have no idea what is going on and probably no more information about your order than you do. All they can do is look it up on line just like you.

I wonder if it even matters exactly what time you call in. The company I work for has a phone-in order system. Orders are taken throughout the day, kept in a queue, then batched and prossed through a computer pass at a certian time of the day (2:00PM). At that time all of the orders that are in the queue funnel through and wind up in random order. Its never a problem unless we sell out of a product that day. Then some people get their orders and some people don't, regardless of what time they called in.

That would explain it, if people who placed their orders at 12:30pm received cancellation notices and those who placed later orders had their's processed. I just checked my order and it was "in stock and reserved". I placed mine at 1:41pm.

I think it is the phone orders that keep getting mixed up, it seems everyone I have talked to that got through on the internet has got conformation that their coins are reserved for them. Gary how did you get your order through, was it phone or internet? I am just wondering if yours was the same case as I have heard around here

To answer a couple of the questions asked...
The same credit cards were not used. One of the friends mentioned lives five miles away from us. Another does live within a block, but used their own credit card.
My order went through via the telephone.
This whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and currently I no longer even care about getting the coins. I think I have been unfairly treated, and I resent it. I'll think real hard in the future about ordering from the mint.

Gary, again I don't think you should get so mad since like I said before, they may have done you a favor. Ordering from them for normal items like proof and uncirc sets has never been a problem for me and many, many others. I think that with all the modern attempts to drag people into the coin collecting market, the Mint is overpowered with new customers and have forsaken the regular, normal people. Please relax, don't get upset, the Mint will never know, nor care anyway, as to your situation.

Gary,
Thanks for the update and I'm sorry to hear about your neighbors and friends.
Did you ever call the mint? You never reported what they told you ..unless I missed it.

Wow, that just doesn't seem right.
Did your friends also all order over the phone? Did they give you an order number that you can use online to track?
I was able to access via the web about 35-40 minutes in and just checked my status and it also says "in stock and reserved".
If you all ordered by phone, it sounds like the only way to do it is through the internet.

I'll give the mint a call tomorrow (Saturday) and see if anything has changed, and possibly get some answers.
