Oh my, never again! I despise the new packaging! I bought just the quarters on ebay cut up from the package. They are harder to bust open and I accidentally touched a quarter. And I think it was stupid to change the packaging this far into the State Quarter series. I'm better off getting BU coins from rolls. I'm not collecting the Prez dollars because I just don't like the fact there will be more Prez's on coins.

I only buy the proof sets from the mint ,, everything else is available in rolls .
Mint sets get no special handling and in fact some coins from mint sets look far worse than those found in rolls .

I may be soon proven wrong, but don't the MS's have that special satin finish, while the rolls don't?

I agree with you Metalman. I'm just gonna get my BU coins from rolls now. I have seen some of these quarters from rolls that looked a lot better than the mint set coins. My Montanna quarter from the MS looks kinda scuffy. I may have to get another bank as my credit union doesn't get their coins from the feds.

the mint set coins are supposed to be different from the bank coins. I don't know exactly how they are different but I know that the coins I get from rolls are a lot worse off than my mint set coins. I have always had better luck getting my book coins from mint sets in fact all my books are from mint sets and I have two map books for the grand kids and they come from rolls and I say the mint sets coins are 100% better looking than the rolled coins. Hi Gary I have taken apart many many mint sets to take the best coins from them ,, They receive no sp[ecial handling or die preparation and are in reality just normal Business strike coins. These coins came from the same mint set . its obvious that there is also little if any quality control in place when these sets are put together . Metalman

I do beleave in 2005 they did start making the mint set with a satin finish. I know they did this for 2005 and 2006 I ma not sure about 07. I have not bought my set yet but I am looking forward to getting them. I keep most of my mint set together so I think I will like the new Packaging.

The new packaging is terrible if your going to break open the sets.

I have never bought mint sets, but the pictures I saw of the new packaging looked good.
However, thanks to this thread, I'll re-think buying any.

I guess if you have no intention of breaking open the sets, then they are a good buy. The packaging looks very nice.
